University of Missouri - Columbia
Department of Chemical Engineering
Undergraduate Nondegree Transfer Student (August 2011 - May 2012)
Doctoral Student (January 2012 - Present)
Expected Graduation Date - May 2015
I was enrolled in University of Missouri - Columbia (Mizzou) as a transfer student through a 3+2 academic cooperation program between Mizzou and ECUST. I was fortunate to meet my advisor Dr. Sheila Baker right after I came to Mizzou, and we soon decided my research direction. Under the support and advisement of Dr. Baker, I was able to make substantial progress for my first project: microwave-assisted ionic liquid microextraction of hydrophobic pesticides, and this work has been published in RSC Advances. Since I'm really interested in my research and it has always been happy to work with Dr. Baker, I made a change of degree to PhD and pursue my scientific dreams. Currently, I have passed the qualification exam and comprehensive exam, and have several more manuscripts ready to submit, which are closely related to Dr. Baker's encouragement and help. I'm expected to graduate in May 2015, and after graduation I would like to continue on the research in the similar area but not limited to. The knowledge and skills gained from Mizzou made me have confidence to face the challenges in both my future life and career.

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (July 2010 - July 2012)
East China University of Science and Technology (member of Project 211 and Project 985), briefly called ' ECUST', is a university with high reputation in the area of Chemical Engineering in Shanghai, China. In December 2013, the Chemical Engineering and Technology major became the FIRST and ONLY major accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in China, which is effective for 10/01/2011- 09/30/2020. ECUST is where my dream as an engineer initiated. In my first two years of undergraduate study, I majored in Environmental Engineering, where the general courses set are nearly the same with Chemical Engineering. Then I choose to change my major through the relevant policy of ECUST, and pursue what I am really interested in. I found I'm more interested in chemistry relevant subject and chemical processes. The background of Environmental Engineering and Chemical Engineering equipped me better for green chemical process.
