Welcome to Jing's website!

Jing Wang is a PhD candidate in University of Missouri-Columbia, department of Chemical Engineering, and is expected to graduate in May 2015. Currently, she's working under Dr. Sheila Baker, and her research interest is ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvent based functional materials. Meanwhile, she's also a TA of the undergraduate chemical engineering laboratory.

Personal Statement: My primary motivation and passion is anything and everything related to ionic liquids. I am deeply attracted by many fantastic properties of ionic liquids, and I would like to devote myself to the related scientific research. Deep eutectic solvent is an alternative to ionic liquid: it not only shares some important properties of ionic liquid, but also has advantages especially in the green chemistry aspect. I perceive the development of environmental friendly and functional ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvent based materials where they are needed as the central challenge in my research. I hope I can pursue my further study in this area, and make a contribution to the greener functional material science.

Research Interests:

  • Designer ionic liquids/nanofluids
  • Ionic liquid membranes and polymeric materials
  • Deep eutectic solvent based functional materials
  • Nanomaterials and nano technology

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
